Game 7 – Pens 2, Caps 0 – Fleury stones Ovechkin

1st intermission report

What can we say? What an amazing period that was for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Both teams were forechecking furiously in the first few minutes. And then Ovechkin got a breakaway. The Caps superstar broke in all alone, as Brooks Orpik fell behind.

And Marc-Andre Fleury showed why he is an elite goaltender. An amazing save which one could argue gave the Pens lots of momentum.

Then a slashing penalty on Shaone Morrisonn – and the Pens made the Caps pay for the 1st goal of the game. Sergei Gonchar unleashed an amazing point shot on 1 leg, and Sidney Crosby – ever the big game player – popped in the loose rebound. Another goal in front of the net, where no one can stop Sid. He has 11 goals in 13 games in these playoffs… And he’s not even a goal scorer.

Overhyped? Not so much, Alex Semin.

The Pens shocked the Caps with a goal only 8 seconds after that. Craig Adams scored his first of the playoffs as he pounced on a puck from about 20 feet in the slot.

And the Pens have their first 2-goal lead since Game 4.
